Default RE: Looking to get new speakers

I had those Pioneers in my last car and they sounded pretty good until I cranked the volume up really loud. I used to have to turn the mid and high down some if I wanted to turn up the bass really loud and turn the volume up. But for regular listening to music and not trying to deafen people theyre a good speaker. Never tried Infinity but I hear good things so I might check them out when I have to swap out the stockers on the Stang.

The stock speakers (front door and rear) are 5x8.

The stock fronts are "plate style" with a seperate tweeter and midrange on the same plate. The overall dimensions are the same as a 5x8 though. The midrange is only about 4" in diameter.

By the way, for the REARS you don't need a special harness. Just remove the female plug from your old speakers and solder it onto your new speakers. Instant (and free) "harness". Of course, you can always just cut off the plugs from the OEM harness and then attach some quick-disconnect terminals instead.

I just installed Sony Ex V680-HP 6x8's, front & rear in my '06 GT 'vert. I love them, tight bass and crystal clear highs. Direct bolt ins, only have to snap off 1 locating tab. I got wiring harness adapters, soldered them to the speakers, and just connected them to stock wiring. Really improved my Shaker 500. Very happy.

Siggy,
I got mine (speakers) from Electronic Express. A good bit cheaper than Crutchfield. I did get my wiring adapters from Crutchfield.
