Hi I have an 05 gt with the Shaker 1000 system, How can I make the stock system sound louder, I was told that I could do so installing some mtx amps any1 ever done this or know what I can do? I have no idea how to work with sound systems.

Well, the door speakers are run off the HU so adding a 4 channel amp, using speaker level inputs, would help and be the easiest option. The door subs each have their own amp located under the drivers side dash/footwell, however, these door subs are 1.25 ohm and if you're trying to replace those, forget it, most people just trash everything and start from scratch, ditto for the trunk subs with their amp. So if volume is what you want and wish to keep it stealthy, I would change all 4 6x8's in the cabin ( I used Infinity's) and add a 4 channel amp. This can be done relatively easily and for about $400 or so.

Just remember, louder isnt always better when it comes to audio.

Ha.. now I know i'm getting old. I've got the 500 setup in my car, and when I turn it up 70% for any length of time my ears actually hurt when i get out of the car. And you have double the power that I do.. Yikes.

Depends on what you define as louder. First place i would start is adding a decent set of tweeters on the A pillars, and a new set of JBL woofers in the door. Watts wise, i can't image you really need more than 1,000. Still looking for improvement i'ld go with a new head unit, i mean your still working off of OEM ford stuff. Same thing that's in my no-frills explorer.

sounds like you want good pumping bass, massive highs, in that case, trust me just buy and aftermarket system

I would put in a new HU. That would surprise you how much louder it really is. Then replace your speaker with some good coaxes or components and put a good amp on them. I am eventually will be putting a full aftermarket setup in my car. You can check out my sig and put in the website which has my old setup in my old car.
