It was the water bay in the battery that ran dry. I poured a bottle of water in there and it runs better than it did a week ago

No Bottled water... Will it hurt the battery if it isn't distilled?
It is filtered water and it sounded fine whenever I got my car running yesterday.

but the fan still draws power which isn't helping the battery any.

No need to turn the AC off. The cut out relay, will cut the AC off prior to the engine turning over.
