the only thing i'd get is the peripheral electronics ipod adapter that you can control the ipod on the screen.
The guy at bestbuy told me this wouldn't work in the 1000! Is yours a shaker 1000?

I think you can hook up a wire for the 2007's+. I'm not sure about the 05-06's.
.
I know you can buy a kit for 200 bucks, and you run it through your glove box. It is a waste of money, an iTrip works great and I got mine for $40.
i disagree, i've been a griffin itrip user since i got my ipod a year ago, 3 months ago, i got Peripheral's ipod adapter (was only $95 for me). granted they had a couple of problems, which they fixed, it's a whole lot better than the itrip. There is a HUGE difference in sound quality plus you would have to adjust your itrip while driving through cities with tons of radio stations, there's no way i'd ever go back to a transmitter, ever.
Is yours a 1000?

at least the 07 gives this advantage... grumbles about stupid tpms...

the aux jack in the arm rest of my stock stereo (non shaker 500 or 1000) works just fine when i hit the aux button on the stereo.

Some misdirection here. The 2005 stereo was different from the later models. I think Aux was for Sattelite.
Just pull the whole thing out. Not only will you get more features, you'll get a stereo that plays without skipping! Once again, this applies mainly to the 2005 Shaker 500

This link provides a Ipod connection for the 2005-2007 Mustang/Ford. It states that it works for both the 500 and 1000 shakers. This system allows you to connect your Ipod by hard wire to the shaker. It allows you to use the shaker buttons to control the Ipod. I've been looking for this unit. Best Buy had them for $99.00 but their web page states they are sold out. Most other places have them for about $150.00. I've been waiting to see if Best Buy gets more before I pay the extra $50.00. The part that has me concerned is the process of getting to the rear of the radio power unit. The kit provides the connector cable, unit box, and the correct model plug in wiring harness. No cut and solder involved. Still , trying to get to the power unit in the car is the part that has me stumped.

well here we go; i have had my updated peripheral unit for 11 months and today my instrument cluster went crazy;;; i had to disconnect the battery for an hour and disconnect the peripheral unit; all is ok now but if yours has not screwed your car up yet iT WILL -- be warned and if it is still under warranty tell them it went crazy and get your money back.

Now i am looking for another option - i am also confused with the new PIE - gotta find out if it works on the 05's or not; if you know please post.peripheral did remove this as being compatible with the mustang with all the problems they are having.

Who the heck is listening to music ANY WAY?

I gotta listen to newsradio to find out where the heck they're keeping Paris Hilton!

Also to make sure I'm not driving on the same street as Lindsay Lohan!

If you hear of any actors on the roads be sure to dial 911!
