I too am in mid-life crisis; being 52 myself and living life large as a reborn 16 year old stud driving an manual 06 GT. Life is definitely better the second time around.
I know the feeling about being 16 year old stud driving a manual GT [8D]

Sugar land Texas here. I too did not care to own one of the later Mustangs until the 2005 came out, and in my view the Mustang was reborn. Having owned a 1968 stang, it is a car that gets in your blood.
My college roomate had a '69 Mach 1 that we went racing in. I am 53 and have owned an '06 for a few months now and I must say it has brought back alot of memories and now I am making new ones that are even better.
My family is behind me in my mid life crisis. So what, you only live once.
Now my black beauty GT turns heads and I get compliments all of the time from more mature guys and new guys all of the time. I am happy for all of the younger stang owners that are discovering this car and finding out the legacy that comes with it - it has a soul. My favorite commercial is the Ford one, where a guy my age and his son or burning out in his new Mustang. That captures it for me. Mustangs will rule for a long time.

I'm 51 and had several 60s Mustangs. Last one I had was a 66 GT Fastback back in 1994. When I got my first Fox body Mustang, 1984 GT, I got hooked and owned several of them as well to include a '93 Cobra and a 86 SVO. Never liked the SN-95 body style and when Ford came out with the new 05, had to have it. This car is so awsome I had to buy an 06 GT Vert to keep the wife from driving my 05.

A lot of the younger generation that grew up with the Fox body or SN95 don't have the same appreciation we do for the new body style. A lot of them feel Ford screwed up with the new body style much like some of our generation felt when Ford came out with the Mustang IIs and the Fox body. (Even with the 71 - 73 models there was some people dissapointed)

Another point, when I had my first Mustang I could not afford to add all the modifications I wanted. Now, hey whatever I want to add I will.

I too felt that the Mustang II was a big mistake!!!

ORIGINAL: Booster

What works best, the Mustang or Viagra?
Having no need for Viagra at age 51, I would have to go with the Mustang.

I was fortunate enough to have owned LOTS of (used) muscle cars years ago when they were simply daily drivers. In just my senior year in high school I went from a '65 Buick GS to a '68 GTO to a '64 GTO (with tripower and a 4 speed). Damn, I was lucky BUT I never bought a new one.

Until now.

Know what you mean. My '68 was a coupe bought from Dad, basic stuff. But the Mach 1 my roomate had was a fastback with the fast/big engine. I always wanted one. Now my GT fulfills that wish.

Well it makes me feel real good to know there are a lot of older guys in new or near new GT's. And it seems to be for much the same reason. I never had such a responce to a post before here. I too keep my cap on while driving, its a Mustang Cap though. Other wise glare off my head would result. The tv commercial with the father and son doing the burnout in the parking lot, took me over the edge, and I ordered my GT.

Yes I really do feel younger now. My wife thinks Im crazy, but she loves it! She caught me in the drivway after midnight playing with the "My Colors" trying to find that "just right" color for my gauges to light up. For me, the Shaker 500 is the most stereo I ever had in any car, and I really like it. I hope that someone in the San Antonio area will post and who knows, maybe a couple of old farts will shake up a few people at the drags.

It was great to hear from all of you.. Keep em comming.

Well, I'm gonna be 60 pretty soon.

Not like some others, Oh yeah I use viagra............not for me but for my GT..........crush up a tablet or two dump it in the gas tank with every fill-up. Added 10 more rwhp..........great stuff. I'd use that other stuff.......what is it........cialis........but I cant wait 36 hours for the results to happen.

Driving to work everyday is a pure joy...........getting stuck in traffic jams.........love it. Boy I sure didnt like it in my 2001 Chevy Malibu LS.

I had breakfast today for lunch........walking out of the resturant there was a little old gray headed lady........maybe 5'2" tall, must'a been 80yrs old if she was a day, who had parked next to my GT............just standing there looking at it........so I asked her "why dont you get one" she looks at me and kinda laughs........you now the way little old ladys kinda laugh, and says "oh no I could get one of those" and I said "sure ya can......go ahead and get one". Finally she says "that sure is a pretty car" and I said, with a wide smile " well...thank you mam....you have a nice day".......she then turned and walked away.

If I would have been 80 yrs old I think I could have picked her up...........but then I'd probably end up in divorce court.

Thats my story.........and I'm stick'in to it.

Just turned 51 about three weeks ago. As soon as I saw the new Ponies back in late 2004, I knew I had met my next car. All the Orange County dealers were looking for 5 to 6K over sticker in early 2005 when I bought. My last ditch effort before ordering from the factory was a phone call to Villa Ford. What eventually became my Mid Life Crisis (see screen name) had been delivered to them that morning, and just came back from having the rims and tires swapped...(only downside....) It was exactly what I was getting ready to order, exactly. (Kharma....) That was at 6pm, and it was in my driveway at 9pm that night. Goodbye to my 97 T Bird, and hello to the new toy....(at sticker, no markup)

Mustangs have been in the family for ever. My brother in law had the first 64 1/2 delivered in Orange County, with a factory high performance 289, 4 speed. What a screamer that was. My Dad had a 67, my brother had a 68, and my first car was a 1969 6 cylinder 3 speed.....

Yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy, but hey, there could be, and are worse past times.....These cars get a ton of attention. Coming home tonight, if you can believe it, I got totally revved off by.....are you ready for this......an Escalade!!! I mean, to the point where this guy was about a car ahead of me, in the next lane, and his friggin exhaust was right next to my open drivers window. The guy was very, very insistant.....Now I do not normally subscribe to street racing, but sometimes the 17 year old comes out and.......

GOD I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
