I have the Pro 5.0 and absolutely love it. Makes driving the car harder easier, if that makes any sense[sm=smiley24.gif]
does it rattle?

I had a 5.0 and a Tri-Ax on it and I hated that thing. It rattled all the time, and it always gave me a hard time with 1st. I got the MGW and that thing was amazing!

My buddy has a Pro 5.0 and that's pretty sweet, also the Hurst is real nice. Got to try it at a ford show a couple of days ago.

I'm definetly gonna go with the Hurst shifter

My Hurst has been in over a year. No problems and it is still as tight today as it was when it was installed.

How do the shifters feel different from one another? Is there anyplace where you compare the different shifters?

I have the Hurst, it has nice short throws (wife hates it), I think I paid $150 for it, a nice look also (IMHO). If I was a serious drag/track racer I would pony up for the Tri-ax or pro 5.0, they are twice the money but built much better.

Couldn't agree more. I had the car for a few months and wanted a shifter. I tried the Hurst at a car show, and it wakes you up to how much more solid shifting can be. At the same time, I knew I was going to do some racing. Both bro and dad run Pro5.0 in their Fox body drag cars, so I looked at that. It is a more sturdy than the Hurst, but felt pretty much the same.

I absolutely love the Pro5.0. It requires a little more muscle than the stock shifter, but the solid construction and shift stops allow you to rip gears as hard as possible. Power shifting is a breeze, even for someone who had never done it before. Also, the Pro5.0 can be adjusted for a super-short throw, or a slightly longer one. I have only tried the longer throw. I'll change to the super-short throw next track day.

I have felt the Pro 5.0, and it is a nice feel. It was just installed and getting into 5th and reverse took some time in the gym, but my buddy says that it has loosened up as it broke in. I just think that $250 is alot of money for a shifter. I was digging around on Steeda's website and found the Sport shifter. I havn't found anyone with this yet, but it looks like a good piece for the money, shortening throws and providing stop bolts. Once it gets put in I write up what I think of it.

Unless someone has had one of these and tells me otherwise.

My brother works for Outrageous Mustangs in NJ for Dwanye Guthridge, they have had problems with all the shifters for the s197 so they had no advice for me. My old power tower on my 5.0 was amazing. The hurt doesn't look good, can any of the shifters be installed and retain the stock look?

Some like Hurst can be ordered with or without ability to use stock handle.
