Default Can stock tranny hold out??

hey guys, i have a 2006 mustang gt with a auto transmission.... so far i have alot of work done to it but am thinking about dropping in a pro-charger.. how much hp and torq can the stock tranny hold?? would i be ok just changing my rear end gears to 3.73's??? i plan to change to 3.73's anyway. but i really need to know how much hp and torq the stock tranny can hold. i want to be able to run in the 10's with my mustang.. so far all ive gotten out of it is 12.7's. any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks, tony

Our auto will hold a fair bit more than the manual, but Ive heard numbers from 625-700 on the stock tranny as opposed to 550-600 with the manuals. I have no idea how accurate those are though, just what I have heard from people and seen on the forums, I have no personal experience with this issue sorry.

Just the mods in your sig got you 12.7s or do you have things not listed?

no way, i have to update that, i have alot more things done to it... so far i had it tuned on the dyno, i have a k&n intake,(no cats) off-road x pypes, slp cat-back, headers, and alot of weight reduction.... my drive shaft is carbon fiber, saved me about 15lbs, my front end was replaced with bmr parts which saved me around 95lbs, steeda underdrive pulleys, lowering springs, and drag radial tires, and im only launching at 2200rpms, when i install the 3000 stall converter i have i will be able to launch at 3000 rpms...

tony

p.s. 625hp on stock tranny, that sounds way to high!! ANYONE HAVE A AUTO TRANNY MUSTANG THATS CHARGED??? DOES IT HANDLE IT OK??

I have the s/c on mine and seems OK so far, but realistically I only have 5K on it.

I think youre confused. You would not be "upgrading" to a T-56. That tranny is weaker than the factory Tremec. I cant say anything bad about the auto tranny in our cars, but historicly the autos in the mustangs have been weak. If you can afford the supercharger you can afford a new tranny though LOL

well, you said the stock tranny can hold more than a t-56 right?? well i looked it up on the tremec site and this is what it says about the t-56..... and the new gt 500 has a t-56, and so do the new zo6 (which have 505hp) so i dont think the stock tranny's are stronger than the t-56, and if they are i should have no problem because i will only have around 450hp at the crank.

T-56

This six-speed overdrive transmission was developed for adaptation to a wide range of vehicle requirements. Currently, the TREMEC T-56 is being used on the Dodge Viper, Chevy Corvette Z06, Ford SVT Mustang Cobra, Aston Martin DB7 Vantage and V12 Vanquish, and Holden Commodore and Monaro.

You won't be getting in the 10s with 450 at the crank.......
