RE: BULLIT PICS JUST IN!
I dont really see ford throwing much engineering into the car.
It doesent seem that ford has enough cash to stay afloat.
I think a blown 4.6 is as much as we can expect, and even that is going to be a stretch.

Blown 4.6? That is Cobra territory. Besides, I don't think blown and bullitt go together. I'd rather have it N/A with 350 horse.
It’s like the American car companies only know how to make power by bolting on a supercharger. What’s up with Japanese rice-mobiles putting down 200 horse without a turbo and with half the displacement and cylinder count…
I’d put my bet on a 325-350 horse 4.6, I doubt we will see the N/A 5.4 in there. It would be sweet as hell, but I seriously doubt they will shoe that one in.

classj,
In big industry, fortunes can turn on a dime. Such companies just go in the red, it's not as if they have no money to work with. If they determine that they can build something and make a profit, they will spend the money to do so.
bl1inkage,
In Germany, cars are taxed based on engine displacement. This combined with the automakers desires for fast Autobahn cruisers encourage them to make lots of horsepower from small displacement. Horsepower is a mathematical calculation. Most high horsepower engines make very little torque at low RPM. Our 4.6's, compared to older generation V8's are guilty of this. For an old world muscle car guy like myself, the new generation engines are sad. I am fully aware that the new generation engines will outrun the old torquers, but the old torquers are more fun to drive.
In the case of the BMW, it has plenty of power for running 220 Kilometers per Hour on the Autobahn, but don't expect it to win a drag race against your 4.6 Mustang. Detroit has already gone too far toward the high RPM torque peaks like the German cars. I just hope they don't go any further.
