06 GT VS. BMW M5

RE: 06 GT VS. BMW M5
Remember, the M5 weighs a good 500 - 600 pounds more than the Mustang. And it's not even putting 500HP to the wheels, so why would the Mustang have to?
again, it has the 7 speed, its always in the powerband

A 7-speed tranny doesn't magically erase those 500 - 600 pounds. And being in its powerband doesn't change the power to weight ratio one bit.
Sherwood06GT, if his Mustang was putting 475HP to the wheels, he'd whip the M5 nicely.

Hmmmm trust me 450rwhp and 4.30 gears and DRs you should be DEEP into the 11's......an M5 only runs mid(at best) to high(the norm) 12's......are you guys gonna race to top speed? Is your wealthy bro-in-law gonna rent a track? Yes, the M5 is a fantastic car(it should be for the price) and BMW doesn't have to play by the "large car maker" rules, Ford sells more F series trucks in a month than BMW sells cars all year. If you wanna say the car's are equal, that's absurd, but ANY car can be made to outrun a stock M5(in a drag race)..just takes money and proper preparation. Race him, see where it goes and see what you need to do to get ahead of him....there's no doubt that stock for stock the M5 is a much faster car....(500hp will do that)........I think this question is a moot point.[sm=bangbang.gif]

i raced a 2006 m5. with my sig mods. we both knew we were racing. i pulled 2 cars lengths from the dig (drag radials) then he couldnt pull back to 100mph. then we lifted. you can do it but we would have been dead even if i didnt have my tires on. and i consider myself a better then good street racer.
as for supernaut... his m5 is 320% a better car. it wasnt designed to be 320% faster. it was designed to be the perfect 4door.

im just tired of hearing about how advanced his M5 is and how it eats vettes, and handles better than anything on the street.

Now....the law of dimenishing returns can definitely apply here as eventually your power to weight ratio can get too high and traction is lost. I realize there are many other factors to consider....but all things being equal, the higher power-to-weight car will win.
