RE: borla non stingers
If by 'stinger', you mean what Borla now seems to be referring to as 'aggressive' (straight-thru, round muffler). Then I have a set on my GT, and I live in a fairly dense neighborhood in the mind-numbingly politically-correct suburbs of San Francisco.
I've had zero complaints and zero run-ins with the law, this includes following, and being followed by police-cars in several jurisdictions. When I first got them on I was shocked at how much louder they were than stock, but now that I'm used to it, I realize they aren't really all that loud until you get on it. Sitting at idle or rolling under no load, the sound is a low rumble, noticeable but not ear-shattering, and certainly not at all louder than the Harley's that seem popular with the mid-life crisis crowd here.
California noise ordinances seem to be more 'flexible' than you might think. I just don't jump on it around town and I'm fine. If they put the decibel meter up to it, then I might have a problem, which I think is what Borlas site is referring to when they don't call it noise legal in Ca - they have to be very conservative to avoid liability. The thing is, no one's going to put that meter up to your pipes until you draw some attention, and so far, I dont seem to be drawing any.
Anyhow, I love them, Borla is a great brand, you'll be happy with the 50-state legals, but if you're worried about them being too quiet, I'd go for the aggressives.

RE: borla non stingers
Is anyone running wiht the 50-state legal Borlas? A sound clip would sure be nice! I had the Stingers for a while, but they were just a bit loud for me - fantastic sound though! I'm looking for something that sounds like the stock mufflers but just a bit louder.

I have a 40 series Flowmaster mufflers for 05-07 sitting in the garage. If you want it, pick it up. Yes it's free! They sound much louder than the stock but can't confirm if it gives you any hp gain, I live in Studio City, CA. PM me if anybody's interested.
