After just 33,000 miles of driving I had a tech. at Ford recommend to me to replace the tires. Is this normal? Anyway I did. I bought the new ones same as stock for 125 a piece. They checked my alignment and found out my ball joints needed replacing so at least I'm getting my alignment for free and a course they are changing the ball joints. Anyone else?
That's not good.
250,000 miles on my Caprice ball joints.
Lowers weren't too bad, uppers were shot.

FWIW Dodge has had all kinds of ball joint troubles with their Durangos.
If Ford says replace, I would go along with them.
You are talking serious car damage and even loss of life if one should let go.

You might want to consider aftermarket tires though.
Get them installed BEFORE you do the ball joints.

Aligning a car with hosed tires produces a hosed alignment.

Remember safety....Anyone who has lived in NYC long enough has seen a taxi cab
with the wheel at a 90 degree angle up inside the well.
Potholes suck up car suspensions.

Now think about that happening at 60mph on a curve........

Well if your car is anything like mine it doesn't surprise me. Every time I launch it the front end comes up pretty good and comes down pretty hard to. Thus the ball-joints are taking a pounding.

I'm mechanically inclined. Not a "Pro" by any means. I was a BMW fan for many years before the GT came into my life. Ran high performance tires. 26 sets in 27 years in 262k miles. I drive pretty hard, no track time, no official races, but I'm rather fond of mountain driving and going into, through, and out of corners quickly.

In the BMW world there was an issue of the right "offset" for the car. Wrong "offset" created problems with suspension/front end parts. But I"m not remembering beyond that. BMW aftermarket/wheel shops would sell spacers to give the right "offset".

Were your wheels stock or aftermarket?

my wheels are stock. If I'm correct I understand this was a problem in the 05s'.

30,000 for the stock tires is good... A set of summer high performance rubber will probably only net about 15,000...

ZR rated tires don't get the mileage performance you would expect from a more conventional passenger car tire.
I'm questioning the ball joints, surely 33k on them is not normal.
Please answer, were the ball joints covered ?

This reply here nailed it. Ford has crappy Ball joints and has for years. They have no grease fittings in them and are very cheap. I would suggest upgrading unless this is being covered under warranty.
