Steeda Tri-Ax (Install Questions)

RE: Steeda Tri-Ax (Install Questions)
Most the posts i've seen on this topic people don't remove the driveshaft. Wrestle it out and then with someones help put the new one in. Question; My Tri-Ax rattles a little bit . More of the vibration of the tranny being transford up through the shifter. Not real noticable but you can hear it with windows up. What type of bushing does uours have that connects to the linkage? Mine is almost two years old and I've heard they are improved. Other than that, I love it.

I didn't have to take the driveshaft off to get my Hurst on. The install took a total of about 15 minutes to complete. I would re-look at the directions first.

On my 5.0 or any of my brothers 9 stangs, we always had to torch the bolts on the drive shaft, to heat them up and in seconds they would come right off. Without the torch, we would hit them with our torque gun and they wouldn't budge, but a little heat and they come off like butter. I've never done this on an s197 so be warned.

RE: Steeda Tri-Ax (Install Questions)
I installed mine with out pulling the drive shaft. I mounted the rail leaving it loose so it will move then from the top inside of the car I lowered the back of the shifter and let it lay on top of the drive shaft. I went back under the car and used the supplied washers and installed the back of the shifter to the body of the car leaving it a tad bit loose as the front rail of the shifter. Then I installed the back of the shifter to the rail with the two allen head bolts and got them pretty snug, then tightened the back of the shifter all the way then tighten the front of the shifter all the way and go back and go back and tighten the allen head bolts and your done under the car, saved me a lot of time and this method took me only 30 minutes to get the job done. May be a bit confusing but I would have to really show you hands on the get a really good idea of how I did it. Hope this helps! I basically installed the shifter part by part under the call instead of installing it as one big piece and then installing, it allows you to do so with out removal of the drive shaft

I will post a picture of the bushings tomorrow for you Gapony. I have been busy at work and have to write a paper tonight. [:@]
Ricky, do you have any pictures of your install? All those words sound a bit confusing.
