Default Trouble Installing Steeda Tri-Ax

I'm installing the Steeda Tri-Ax and I can't get the stock shifter out. How did you guys get it out without taking the drive shaft off? It seems like there is no way to maneuver it out.

I believe you have to drop the drive shaft....but that is why I am having it done professionally.

When you drop the driveshaft make sure that you mark the flange and bolts so your car doesnt get the shakes, better yet, get rid of that 40 some pound beast and put in the alluminum(sp) job.

You just have to finagle (sp?) it. It will come out through the top. It would help to have someone under the car and inside the car, but I did it by myself.

You do not need to drop the driveshaft, but it would make it a piece of cake if you do. I did not though.

If I remember correctly I pushed the stock shift down to the right of the driveshaft and pulled it out *** first. The long bar that mounts to the tranny has to go down and then you can pull the back out.

You'll need to put the steeda in the opposite way you took the stock one out, but you probably knew that. It took me about 10 minutes wrestling with it until I figured it out.

Ok, I finally wrestled it out but ran into a new problem. I am trying to attatch the Arm and the Base together but on one side the screw is not going in.

Ryan,
I know this refers to a Hurst shifter, but perhaps this article will have something helpful, don't know....

That link really helped a lot. After installing the Tri-Ax I wish I would have gotten the Hurst. I'm not impressed at all with the Tri-Ax.
