I have never heard of such a thing. My 07 GT has no writing of any kind in or around the gas cap its just black. I live in Texas, maybe thats the reason, we have 87, 91 and 93 octanes here everywhere.

Pickins are really getting slip around here in NJ as gas stations go.
Years ago I stopped buying amoco because it was bought by BP and I had a fuel pump fail because of this brown talcom powdery silt like crap along with water after I filled at one station. They wouldent do anything significant about it other than pay some of the labor because the car was already 7 years old.
So I was using sunoco 94 for a while and mobil. Now mobil is gone here and has been replaced by the russian company called lukoil.
And they killed sunoco 94 so now when I run sunoco 93 in the mustang with its hotter tune it pings. Throw BP in and it is fine. I dont run the hottest 93 tune all the time since not all fuel brands work well with it. I run brents 93 "jersey" tune normally. My mopar runs like crap on the sunoco 93. Even with the normal amount of torco concentrate I add to the tank. I have to dump another 1/2 can or so of concentrate into the car to knock the ping down completely in the mopar when I am running sunoco 93.
So now in northern NJ I am down to exxon, BP, shell, and citgo. BP is what I am using now.
