No, no no!!!! Don't cut them off.............!!!! These are actually there for a reason.

They are clips used to remove the A/C hoses, when/if you ever need to have work done on the system. These little rings slide into the couplings on the A/C hoses and they allow the couplings to separate. I've used them on my '86 T-Bird before.

Come on guys.... Someone was thinking ahead here.

What he said. They came in handy when I had to service the AC on my Dodge RAM. Don't cut them off.

Two constants when working on cars:
1. You always end up with extra parts
2. Your never really working till you start bleeding.

Those peices are part of the assembly process, they hold the garter springs inplace until the system is assembled, they are really of no purpose other than that, as far as a quality control issue, man thats **** retentive, its a matter of cost and efficiency, if you added the step of a human to cut off all the little assembly tags and such, it would slow production up to a possible 10 car per day reduction, the car would cost even more to pay those extra couple of people, so the cars would cost more, and the reduction in production would cause more of a delay in us getting our precious cars... on an avg of 350 days a year to take account for holidays, that would be up to 3500 less cars produced per model year,

just my .02

ps, yes extra parts are good, they make you feel better

and the blood comment is correct, hell my cars seem to run better if some blood gets in the motor.

So, here we go again. Multiple conflicting answers.

1. They are nothing just cut them off.

2 They are used in servicing the A/C.

3. They are leftovers from the assembly process.

Take your choice.

Take your choice.

Some times I think you all have NEVER owned a Mustang before...........

I never had to use those clips when I took my A/C off my Mustangs in the past.

For those of you saying that they needed those plastic rings in the past for servicing the AC...what DO they DO????

Proof is always nice instead of just throwing out an opinion.
