I envy those of you who have had no problem with your S500. I have an 06 Stang and the S500 in it is a peice of crap. Skips constantly on new and burned disks. It will also say BAD DISK and refuse to play a disk it has played before. Worst CD player I've ever had. Why the heck can't I plug my MP3 player into it, anyway? If I could I'd never bring another CD within 100 feet of my Stang.

My 500 works fine most of the time. It has never skipped but it has locked up completely with no sound coming out & nothing at all works until it's had time to think then it re starts & is fine for months at a time. My dealer's solution is to take it out, send it off for a couple of weeks to see if they can fix it - leaving me with a huge hole in my dash.

I have had a few problems with my 500... the occasional skip, nothing bad, onc ein a while a bad disc, but it will read it right after i put it back in... the biggest concern i have is sometimes when i start my car... the shaker doesn't work... everything i do takes 15 seconds for the unit to catch up, i have to stop the car, and open the door to kill it and reset it... kinda like it gets hung up on something and then all the buttons i push get backed up... only happened a few times though... I think it is a good unit... i would get it just to have the subs in the door, otherwise they aren't there and you have to find somewhere elses to put aftermarket speakers...

I've had no problems with my Shaker 500 so far. It plays all CDs - burned or bought - without problem. That having been said, I'm not a huge fan of the Shaker system, and will probably go aftermarket as soon as I have the funds. I'll replace the Shaker as well as the speakers in the doors. I just don't think it has that great of a sound. It's not bad, by any means, but it's just not great. My Monsoon stereo that I had in my old 2003 Grand Am sounded much better, IMO.
