Default I ordered a CAI, tune, and shifter !

I ordered a JLT CAI, a tune, and a steeda tri-ax shifter from Brent. He answered the phone when I called and we talked for 20 minutes about mustangs. I was curious as to what else he would recommend to help unleash the power of the stang. (He recommended UDP and cams). But to my surprise, the one item that he did not recommend was 4.10s. I have a 5 speed and was also considering getting new gears. Brent said that although you will get more power from a dig, 0-60 and quarter mile times are unaffected because they will both require an extra shift, which slows down your times. He said that he has put 4.10s on cars but that according to his tests, are no faster than the 3.55s. I just thought that I'd share this info with my fellow stang owners.

Can't wait to get my stuff. :-)

Odd he mentioned Cams. I havnt seen any real impressive numbers from them. At least for the hassle. I would have also expected to see LT headers on the list, and maybe CMDPs (for the price) over a Cam swap.

I thought 4.10s were for autos, 3.73s were for manuals?

Quarter mile times aside, if you were just looking to have fun scootin aroudn corners and getting pushed back into the seat, gears would be the way to go, right?

My bad. I forgot to mention the LT headers. He did recommend them.

haha 4.10s made mine about 3/10 faster in the 1/8th. but had to get mickeys b/c it wont stick in 2nd anymore. the gears probably made the biggest difference. the "extra shift" doesnt matter...unless your not good at it. a buddy of mine has a C5 vette with intake and exhaust andfrom a 20 roll we would be side by side to about 80 and he wouldpull. with the 4.10 i pull 2 cars from the start every time and he doesnt catch me untill about 120.

Where would you have the 4.10s installed? I called 2 Ford Dealerships that said that they wouldn't want to do them because it would void the warranty.
