Default RE: Forged vs Lightweight vs Other?

There are a HUGE variation of weights in wheels.

Most racing wheels--either drag race (many of those from Bogart, Weld, etc..) or Road Race (Fikse, etc.) will be very lightweight. Lightweight wheels are reducing both unspring weight and rotating weight, which makes a significant difference on the track. Using these wheels will improve acceleration, braking, and handling in general.

On the other hand, most aftermarket wheels are made for looks with weight a secondary concern, if a concern at all. Heavier wheels will soak up HP becasue they take more effort to turn.

If you switch from stock wheels to the heavier aftermarket wheels (Like those Fooses or most brands of 20's) expect to see a power LOSS of 10-20 HP on the Dyno because of all that extra weight your're spinning.

On the other hand, you could get a similar GAIN by getting lightweight wheels.

you guys might flame me for this but.........

5zigen, volk racing, bbs, work etc are all lightweight rims that have proven themselves.

5zigen = lightweight and sexy design, bbs = some of the best mesh rims ever....

the thing is, theyre generally stereotyped with imports

Oh yeah, he wouldn't have that problem with any weight rim if you ran on a Dynopack, LOL

matter of fact i'm planning on putting 5zigens FN01R-Cs on my stang, or some bbs's.

if i wanted rims just for looks, i'd go with black w/ silver lip deep dish bullitts, but i want a lightweight rim that still looks good, hence 5zigen
