just got hit with 85 in a 55 down in atlanta last week.

i had only been on the ground for about 45 minutes in a rental car i just picked up from the airport. i was not too familiar with the floaty ride of my 06 chevy impala but i was going too fast, not excuses.

i explained to the officer that this is the first time i've been stopped in 9 yrs... wasn't focusing on the drive but rather getting to my next business appt. since i was in an unfamiliar rental, i should have been paying more attention.

he said, "yep, i test drove one. those ride nice and can be deceptively fast" & later "i wouldn't have stopped you for 75 because traffic flows really fast around here" then he wrote my ticket. grand total $406

its not as bad as you guys would think in usa..

In Montreal, I got caught going 40 in a 30 zone and my fine was of 300$ with 3 points deducted (I think we use the same system as you guys)...

Let me tell you than the insurance premium will go up just because of a stupid freaking ticket.... I wonder sometimes if going to a ticket clinic (one just opened here in montreal) would of helped me out....

Timmy - Wow! No I did not realize that it was speeding (until you took time to kindly point this out)! For the past 30 years I thought the big black numbers on those signs were just a "suggestion". Now that I know, it changes everything and I will take full responsibility. I will never challenge a police officer or anything they say because I know, and am sure you will agree, they are always right, honest and are on the side of justice and good.

I feel so sheepish and embarassed now...

BTW - Do those red signs that say STOP mean that I have to use my brakes and make my car's speed go to 0mph? Please advise.

I look forward to your valuable comments in the future. I just also found out that adding one of those "supercharger" things will make your car go faster! Those bastards!
