Questions about buying new/used mustang.
Hi all,
First off, I'd like to say this is an awesome forum for mustang info. I don't have a Mustang YET. I'm still trying to get some info together as to what might be best. I know when the 05's came out, in terms of pricing, MSRP+ was typical. Now that the dust has settled a little, should invoice be a problem to get on an 07? I was also looking at possibly a used 05 GT. I've seen a few for less than $22k with less than 15k miles. Were there any serious bugs in the first year? I would love to order/buy a new 07 with exactly everything I would want, but if I could save $5-6k on a good used one, I'd do that.
Sorry if I'm being to general with this post, but I'm looking for opinions/suggestions.
Thanks

If you can afford it, buy new. This way you will know exactly how the car is maintained and how it is driven. You can bet your bottom dollar that a little old lady didn't just drive the used Mustang you'll be looking at to church on Sundays.

I think that getting one at invoice is going to be determined by your location, dealer inventory, and what options you want on your car. When I bought mine, it was the only GT 5 speed three dealers within 75 miles had. With that said, they were not willing to do invoice because of demand. They did go $800. off sticker which took heading out the door of the dealership three times. Financing rates are cheaper on New over Used, so the difference there may make the new car cheaper than you expect over the term of the loan, and you are getting a car that is under warranty, not buying a '05 which might have some warranty left depending on mileage. Even with the instant depreciation of new car buying, I think its a better investment if you can afford to do so.

You might still be able to find a good deal on a 2006. Some dealerships in Houston were advertising 7000 off the MSRP. I was going to buy one but all they had left were automatics.

ORIGINAL: Viridian
If you go during the last weekend of the month, you might be able to score invoice. I know I did on my '07.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to take Cal's input on the used Mustang. No telling who's stinky butt was in the driver's seat before yours.
One other thing; if I wanted it lowered and a bigger gear thrown into the rear, would you go with Ford Racing and let the dealer install it? Should that be cover under the manufacturer's warranty if the dealer installs it?
Again thanks for the info all!
