How much HP/Torque can a T3650 handle?
Isn' the T3650 rated at 400 ft.lbs. of Torque? Somebody explain to me how everybody with blown GT's with over 500 HP at the crank aren't detroying their trannys? I'd like to put and SC on my stang as well but, I don't want to overdo it and cause premature failure of the Tranny.
Please advise.

The 3650 is pretty beefy. There is no magical number but I've put 525ft/rwtq through mine with no issues. I know others that are in the high-500 to low-600 rwtq range. The input shaft would probably go first before the internals.

According to Tremec's web site, the 3650 is rated to 360 ft-lb.

Keep in mind that that figure is most likely a continuous duty, long-term rating.
The more torque is applied, the shorter the life of the trans will be.

If I was going to put more money into my car, I would go with the T-56. The 3650 is noisy and has crappy syncros.
Unless you are hooking up real good (ie drag slicks), I do not see a problem. I'd worry more about the engine. I have my shift light set for 5800 just to limit strain under boost.
