For those of you who don't know, the BOSS engine was the answer to the hemi.
It had somewhat hemisperical heads. Maybe that BOSS 290 has hemispherical heads as well.

I don't think it's an OHV design, I'm pretty sure it's a derivative of the Modular engine family, could be the 2000 Cobra R style engine with changes to suit the Aussie market, could be what's in the GT500 sans the S/C. Can anyone clarify this?

I don't know....but dear god, please......PLEASE, not let Ford build a mustang model with an NA version of the GT500's 5.4 That thing will be slow like the ballz.[:'(]
