Kenwood etc. navigation european compatability?

RE: Kenwood etc. navigation european compatability?
I have some of the same issues here in Korea. Most of the systems will show you where you are in relation to the earth based on GPS or cell phone triangulation reception (ie. I am as such and such latitude / longitude and here is what it looks like on the map). But, the problem is with the under laying data. The system, if it had basic maps, may show you are on a road but it has no idea how to relate that to telling you how to get from point A to point B by taking road 1 north and then road 2 south. This is because of the lack of a Geospatial Information System database to draw the information from (the CD). Bottom line is if you just want to know where you are and have it show it to you on the map you should be good. But, it you want the box to tell you to take a right on the next street in 500 meters you will have to find the data and then get it in to the database somehow. Hope I didn’t ramble.

Cheers everyone.
Was hoping that someone was connected enough to figure it out for me. I'm to tired when I get home to make all the phonecalls etc...
Will try to get a hold of some ppl that sell kenwood here, or maybe even kenwood themselves.
Hopefully it will be as easy as just changing the discs for European ones and I'll be smiling all the way to the shops...
Thanks again,
J.
