hi all, i just ordered motive 3.90's for my 06 automatic mustang gt,, is that a good choice?? forget the make of the gears, the question is all around is it a good choice?? everyone has 3.73's and i want the edge over them.. but i didnt want to go with 4.10 because its auto.. i heard that 3.73's or 3.90's would be best.. what u guys think??
any feedback is greatly appreciated..

Yea, good choice. I have 4.10s but mine is a 5 speed. It's really agressive, especially since I've recently been blown! [sm=smiley35.gif] (supercharged that is)

Unless Motive has improved there gears in the last few months they will whine, the majority of people who got them had a problem with serve whine, some people had to remove them and get the Ford gear. I wanted to go with the 3:90 also but didn't for that reason.

ok, thanks. from what i hear, all ford gears are motive gears, just they r marked up by ford... but im getting them installed by american speed factory.. ive gotten alot of recomendations to go to these guys... they only work on high end cars like ferrari's but they make exceptions... is whine abad thing or just cuz its annoying?? as long as its not that loud ill stick with them. worst comes to worst ill just take em out and put 3.73's.

You WILL get whine, especially with the 4.10s, but it will pretty much go away after a few days of driving. Thats what happened to me.

Well, it can be a bit annoying, especially at higher freeway speeds, but like I said, it should mostly go away in a few days, unless they botch the install. The taller the gear the more whine, thats just the physics of it.

ok, but the whining has nothing to do with performance right?? it doesnt weaken the gear or anything??? its just noise?

Mostly true, yes. I don't have experience with different brands, but mine are Ford Motorsports gears. If the install is correct, then yes, it's just noise. Any experienced technician at a good shop will install them correctly. It's mostly the "garage mechanics" that may not have the expertise.

well i know a couple of ppl that have gotten em done in american speed factory, and are extremely happy with it. and they r no cheap shop... the second u drive in all u see are ferrari's.. they are charging me like 350-400 for the install, but u get what u pay for.....

changing the subject for a second... i ran a 13.7@101.43mph 1/4 mile with factory tires... with drag radials and the 3.90's, more or less u have any idea what i will run???
