thinking of steping up a year.
whats up guys, i have an 04 GT with several bolt ons now and i am thinking of steping up to the 05+. I just have a few questoins. first what kind of times can i expect stock? i have raced a bunch of them and i can hold off a stock one until 100 ever time. i consider myself a good driver and have no idea what kind of drivers i was up against. i am also thinking of a ls2 gto, how close in performance are we talking about here? i want to be a mid to low 12 second car in the end. thats all i am going for, what kind of mods are needed to achive this? and last, is there anything i should look for when picking out the new gt?
oh also, anyone know if my diablo sport will work on the new gt or do i have to get a new one?

Go with the Satng, I was looking at the GTO my self also but didn't buy one because they only run on preimum. The GTO is a bit faster but the style isn't as nice and the cost of gas will kill you. They only get like 16mpg in the city on preimum. Anyway just my opnion.

Well, besides the fact that the new GTO is f****** ugly, and really isn't a GTO at all (except in name) the real retro look is in the Mustang '05+. When you really think about it, premium gas is going to run you maybe 3-4 dollars more per fillup, it is negligible, unless you consider a 20 or 30 dollar unincrease at the most per month for average driving to be a budget breaker, in which you most likely shouldn't have bought a new car anyway.

Stock GT Times
Necessary Parts
You can get to 12's with any of the power adders available minus the nitrous. Turbo puts the least amount of strain on the car. This is exactly what rygenstormlocke told me in a PM and you should definately trust this guy; he has a 12 second V6 auto.

Intake, tune, gears, and tires should put you a little above 12.5. LCAs, and UCAs, panhard bar and whatever other type of suspension mods... UDP's and LT Header/Highflow cat setup will put you past 12.5.
With an intake, tune, and o/r h-pipe setup I ran 13.2. That's on a 2.0 60'. If I could break a 2.0 60 ft I'd be close to 13.0-13.1. I got rid of the O/R H, and now have UDP's... Haven't been able to test it in the 1/4. I did run the 1/8 mile, but with the tires at stock pressure, and the TC on ( I didn't feel like turning it off. ) my times weren't all that impressive. A best of like 8.6. My 13.2 was a 8.5.

A tune, stall, and nittos would get you mid 12s in the A4 GTO easy. I got friends with a cam, stall, drag radials, and a tune running high 11s in the autos. I was running 11s for $1800 in my 04 M6 GTO. Doesn't take much. . .

I would defintely go for the 05+ GT. The GTO isn't ALL that much faster, and it costs a good bit more. Also, the Mustang has a very noticable look, and it turns heads. I think the GTO looks a little too plain.
