Got a deal on an 2007.
A dealer located about 70 miles away advertised an ’06 Mustang with 4.0 and automatic for $15,995. This was with a $1,500 discount off an already discounted MSRP of $17,995, and another $500 discount on top of that. Since I’ve seen similar ads for ’06 Mustangs with manuals I called to confirm that it had an automatic and was assured that it did. Thus, I bundled the wife and Dalmatian into our SUV and made a mad dash to the dealership, hoping to get there before someone snapped up the deal before me. However, when I got there they apologized and told me the ad was wrong and that it was a manual and not an automatic. I said, fine, go find one with an automatic and give it to me at the same price, because they not only had it wrong in the ad but misinformed me when I called to confirm the ad. They had to call the General Manager and he came in to straighten things out. I ended up getting a 2007 with automatic for the same MSRP of $17,995. Believe me I tried to get the additional $1,500 factory rebate, but since that came from the factory (as stated in the ad) they could only give me the factory rebate of $500 that Ford is giving for the 2007, plus another $500 on top of that. So, my bottom price on the 2007 with automatic was $16,995. Yes, I paid $1,000 more than in the ad, but then there was no way around the fact that the factory rebate on the 2007 is $1,000 less than on the 2006, and after all it is a 2007. I know I got a great deal. If anyone has done similar, or better, please share your story.
