Default RichMod, did you get rid of the rear end whine yet?

I have a whine in my V6 2006 that has 4500 miles. I noticed it as soon as I bought it. Wasn't bad enough for me not to buy the car. It is only a slight whine only from maybe 61 to 65 mph. Looks like others have this same problem too. My uncle has a F series truck he bought 2 years ago and says he has a seriously loud whine in his truck. He ran a transmission shop for probably 40 years or so. He says it's the manufacturer Ford uses for the rear ends. I think he said it is Dayna. He also said they used to be made in America. Now that they are foreign, they whine. Surely they will get this whine problem worked out in the future for all Ford vehicles.

I'll find out today. I took it in 2 days ago to a different dealer (Capital Ford) after the first dealer tried unsucessfully three times to fix it and actually created some new noises. The guy at Capital Ford was recommended by a local Mustang shop, and he really did seem to know his stuff. He just called and told me that there was a bunch of stuff that was just wrong - bearing preload, pinion angle, blah blah blah. Anyway, he was VERY thorough and descriptive, and it sounds like he really took his time working on it to get it right. I've got my fingers crossed - I pick it up after work tonight. I'll post after I get it with the (hopefully positive) details.

Quick summary - not good. There's a rumble now at 75 mph. And after about 10 miles, I started hearing a whistle type noise. Having driven it enough to elaborate, so i'll post later with more details. Needless to say, I'm not pleased. I'm thinking about demanding a whole new rear end since this one seems unfixable.

I'll post all further updates on my original axle whine thread here: https://mustangforums.com/m_2020118/...tm.htm#2195501
