Default Hurst T-Handle Install

Our mustangs have a unique thread (12x1.25) so I was unable to find a T handle that had the correct threads. So I bought a universal metric Hurst T handle and retapped the 10MM adapter to 12x 1.25. I used a nut, a metal washer, and a rubber washer (to insure the boot does not get dmged by the metal washer) to hold the boot up. I think it turned out good. The stock shifter was to slick on top and I wanted more control. (Other shifter related mods are; Saleen Short Throw Shift Adapter, Steeda Bushings, CHE K-Member Brace W/ Torque Limiters.) Sorry for the pic quality I took them in my garage so not the best lighting.

Another thing to note, when i receive the handle the quality of the finish was pretty bad. It had a very rough texture, very visable machine marks, pits in the metal, and some black paint splatter. I sanded it down with 400 grit paper to give it a smoother feel and get rid of the defects. I chose 400 because I wanted to leave vertical marks in the handle to give it the brushed finish look.

Riven,
Could just be the picture angle, but it appears to sit even lower than the stock ****....Any leverage issue?

Looks good, and very nice "mod to the mod"......

Hey what do think about this cover for the ugly rubber PB handle...here's a pic of mine, it would compliment your Hurst shifter nicely...

I've got the same Universal Hurst handle but I wanted it to set up higher but I have'nt figured out what to use. I need some kind of adapter that will screw on top of the existing shifter that will raise it 5 inches and then screw the Hurst handle on top of that. Anyone with any ideas?

I fabricated a part from stainless steel to put under my Hurst shift ball. To me the T-handle looks awkward with the boot right up underneath it.

It is a little lower than stock. I dont have any issues with it being lower. It is only about 1-2 inches lower.

Did you have it fabricated at a machine shop? How tall is it?
