Default Brake Pads

I'm in UK and recently bought some spare parts from a Ford main dealer whilst visiting USA [they are not available over here]. They offered me a choice of either Ford or Motorcraft front brake pads, the latter being about half the price! I thought Motorcraft was part of Ford, what is this all about, whats the difference?
[I bought the M. pads, but will throw them away if someone persuades me they are of poorer quality as pads are not something I want to compromise on].

Default RE: Brake Pads

Motorcraft are the standard Ford products and I would imagine the same as the stock pads. Many Ford dealers also sell Ford Racing Performance Products that are "Ford" pads and are of a different material - some might say better in that they are higher performance (and more expensive). If you liked the factory performance, the Motocraft's are fine.

Use them...they are not any lower in quality than "Ford" brand......You read that... brand name. Basically the same parts. Allot of Ford parts are also sold as Motorcraft........fuel pumps, water pumps, tons of sensors, etc. Motorcraft to Ford is the same as AC Delco to Chevy. I have Motorcraft pads on our Explorer, no problems at all. Actually have good bite....no fade.
