Hood pins are really only decoration these days so I would say go with which ever you like the look of more. I tend to like the Steeda pins as I think they look more authentic. I also really liked the shelby pins http://www.shelbyautos.com/ShowDetail.asp?id=31 although the cable can get a little annoying at high speed.

I went with the Ford Racing Hood Pins. Got them from Summit Racing. Same look as the Shelby pins referenced above, but about half the price

The statement in a previous post that hood pins are only for decoration these days is incorrect. There are many functional hood pins and with the hood shake many experience on the new mustangs at speed (myself included), they can be an important mod.

I still don't know if I totally buy that thing about hood pins. They started their life out because they were cheaper than a hood latch but now all of a sudden they are necessery?.. The only car I've driven with pins was the GT-H and I'm pretty sure they didn't make a damn bit of difference on that thing.

have you driven a car with a fiberglass hood? The corners lift really bad after 100kmh.

My brother advised against hood pins or even replicas on a black car.. He said the cable could scratch up the paint... True?

That's actually a really good point.. I never thought of that. Maybe some poins will be on the way when I get me new hood

I didn't see any sort of wear on the gt-h from the cables. I did however see some gouges from the locking pins.

Considering the fact that the Mustang GT that won those GT races had a hood that got blown off during a race, it's safe to say that yes, this car needs hood pins!
