Need Advice in Changing out Exhaust on 2007 GT
I bought a new 2007 GT last month and have decided to change out the exhaust system. When I had my 2003 GT, I took out the back CATS and installed X-pipes and Flowmaster 40's. I'm wondering if I take out the back CATS on the 2007 GT will I have a problem with the car throwing Check-engine Codes? I didn't have any problems with the 2003 throwing codes. For those of you who've taken out the back CATS, have you had to install Eliminators for the missing CATS? I don't plan on removing the front CATS.
Cheers!

As far as I know there are only 2 cats up front. I had ordered the pypes offroad x-pipe and had to get the programmer to turn the 02 sensors off. I hated the sound of the offroad x-pipes and installed the SLP catted x-pipes. I can live with the sound now.You can either install the eliminators or get a tuner.

Yep, you're right. Only 2 cats up front. Seems Ford changed up the exhaust on the 2005-2007's. I had X pipes and Flowmasters (40 series) installed yesterday. Now I can hear the infamous "growl" again that I had with my previous 2003 GT. Ford's stock exhaust in the 05-07's sound better than the previous years' exhaust, but it still doesn't get much notice from other drivers or admirers. With the modded exhaust, I have noticed that I do get the same growl as my previous car (w/mods), but the inside noise (resonance) seems to be a little less during 2000 rpm's. Must have something to do with the different cats on the newer stangs or better noise insulation.
