After 6 months my tint was worthless. I got the moleskin and retinted. The moleskin works great. I've had it on for about 8 months w/o any scratches BUT all of the sudden I've found two scratches on the passenger side and just got one on the driver's side. I think it's from dust because i've been rolling the windows down more now that it's cooler out. I've said before that I believe you're more likely to get scratches in a dry and dusty climate.

So IMO the moleskin is a MUST HAVE and it will prevent (almost all) scratches. You just have to keep the windows clean and the dust out of the felt. But, don't be surprised if you find a scratch from time to time.

Had my windows done and within 2 weeks got a few lines on the passenger side. Just installed the moleskin yesterday, will get retint of side windows soon. moleskin was a pretty easy install.

You didn't leave a box for those of us with just the factory tint!
I thought there were too many hassles w/ getting the door windows tinted, though by most of the posts above I guess moleskin will remove most of my concerns.
The thing is I notice that the factory tint is starting to break up! You might have seen that on some cars, especially when walking through a parking lot when the sun is out. It's not too bad but if it gets worse I'll have to add the moleskin & tint.

BTW- we might as well hook this up to the big tint thread:

Sorry, but I wasn't aware there WAS a factory tint. Are you sure it's not something your dealer did, rather than the Ford factory?

You mean to say "What problems you haven't had with the Window Tint".

I got my windows done right after I bought the car in March. I got them done in 5% ALL AROUND, and about a week later I noticed some SCRATCHES in the tint. The dealer told me FORD would not cover it, and plus I didn't nor do I have the time to go by there and get it fixed. I don't think it has got to the windows, but my tint needs to be re done, and I need to purchase a molding kit. I did go to another dealer and they said they would take care of it, no problems. So probably here in a couple of weeks I'll be getting it taken care of. But please, before you tint your windows, ESPECIALLY ON VERTS, get a MOLDING KIT for your windows.

No. Maybe it's California, but there is a little bit of tint in the factory glass. You can check by pulling alongside a white wall and lowering your window 1/2 way. Is there a difference in the color of the white wall?
It would be interesting if Ford only gave factory tint to cars headed for the Sunbelt...

No moleskin, took it to a random local shop, didn't bother checking for dust/dirt inside the windows before I took it in. Paid $140, rolled the window down by accident within the first 6 hours, several more times within the first several days.

Months later... not a single scratch, looks flawless.
Great...maybe you are the exception. Hope it stays that way.

got mine tinted before I knew about the problem. I don't roll them down often , just to cut down on the dust. but it has some faint scratches allready starting to show up. I need to get some moleskin before it gets worse.[sm=smiley20.gif]
