ORIGINAL: AmericanMuscle4.6GT
the Cobra, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Low end torque (300 ft. lbs at 1500 RPM), bullit proof motor with sick potential, 12.4's bone stock, none of that crappy electronic throttle bull**** to deal wiht, etc.

Cobra for the win. It's practically new anyways, actually even better it's just past break in period and now you can really work with the motor and mod it up. Plus, it looks SO much nicer than the new ones and it's got the supercharger already.
I'm really partial to the 99-04 body style, plus a cobra is a cobra!

What do you want the car for? For a DD, then I would go S197, for a garage queen with weekend action, then the Cobra. To me the Cobra is a car I would want to keep the mileage as low down as possible, it would be an investment(IMO). The car is getting rarer and
it's hard to find an unmolested one. From a looks standpoint, well if I wanted a Terminator, I would've bought a leftover '04 for the $33K the dealer was seliing one for in early '05. I know, I know, the stats are what drive everyone bonkers.....forged shortblock, 4V heads, Eaton, 6 speed, IRS(stopgap design IMO) and the vented hood and aggressive fascia/rear valance, but it's still a '78 Fairmont
under there(sorry, but it's true), yes it's fast and has more potential(in a straight line), but it's a 25 y/o chassis. The S197 is light year's ahead in dynamics, driving comfort and has a much more rigid chassis should the roadrace bug bite you(IMO). Looks? S197 hands down(IMO) Speed out of the box? Well it's hard to argue with 360rwhp in stock form, so Cobra. As an investment? Because of it's limited production status, of course the Cobra. As someone stated earlier Cobra vs GT500? GT500 with ease, Cobra speed(a little more in fact) and S197 looks, best of both worlds......but not the subject at hand. Sounds like you want pure speed, so a '78 S/C'd Fairmont it is
