I shift 1-2-3-D i think it works better the 1-2 shift is amazingly quick .... stock on stock we would beat a manual off the line bc the 1-2 shift is so quick

I was at the track last night and got advice from my tuner and his father. When you do a burn out it's to get the tires hot and sticky, so that when you launch to tires grip the track. Also to start in 1st and work your way to 3rd, when at 3rd hold it there for about three seconds. When you get to the tree, bring the RPM's to 1000 and have in drive (D). The car seems to like it that way. Here's my time slip info and to back up what I just told you. The first run was my way (the wrong way). I didn't do a good burnout and at the tree I had my RPM's up around 2K - 25K and when I launch my tires were spinning a lot. On my second run I did as my tuner and his father said, the results speak for them selves.

Turn TC and overdrive OFF.

1st run

R/T .647
60' 1.996
ET 8.227
MPH 87.89

2nd run

R/T .836
60' 1.622
ET 7.548
MPH 89.92

Looks Good!

Is that on street tires? if so, what pressure were you running in them?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The tires are MT DR, On my first run I had 15 PSI in the tires and my tuner told his dad for me to drop them to 15psi, so I drop it down to 12 psi and that helped a lot. Most of the time I run 20psi, but drop the pressure if your tires are spinning at the launch.
I won't race with street tires anymore, not after I fishtailed three or four time on one run and I was lucky I didn't hit the wall that I was heading for. Be safe and get DR tires.

Im not puttin out even close that HP number as you are. When i get some real power flowing i will upgrade the tires and stuff. My 60's suck because it seems like the car is leaving to soft. It's all in the way im driving the car but, I will try some different combinations off the line to see what will get me rollin quicker.

Thanks

I have been to the track about 3 times with my auto and have tried pretty much every way possible to launch. The way that i got my best time of 13.482 was to do about a 2 second burnout just to clean off the tires ( Street tires will only get slippery if you heat them to much because they are made from a different rubber than DR's), pull it down into 1st when you pull up to the line, bring the rpm's up to about 1500 and go shifting at the redline.

Here's what im noticing when i was launching the car, Its as if i were driving a car with a vacum secondary carb so when i nail it, i go about the 60" when it feels like the secondaries are kickin in then its runnin hard. I talked to Adam of S T Motorsports while at the drag's last night and he say's it's in the cars computer, "Torq Control" (Yes, TCS was Off when i ran it) and it can be turned off in the cars computer but not thru my SCT unit. Im new at this modular motor and computer stuff. On a good note though, I beat a GTO by a 1/2 a fender!

Here's some vidoe's from yesterday (18 Nov 06). It was warmer there at Barona Drag Strip. My times were 7.7 and 7.8's. Were going again today, thid time I will be letting my 19yr son race since I raced 10 times yesterday.
My R/T was all over the place, always keep your eye on the tree lights, LOL.
