Shaker 500 -- worth it vs. system from circuit city or best buy?

Why would you want to hear the music over the exhaust note?
Seriously, my GT came with the Shaker 500 - I didn't order it - and, it's a pretty good factory system IMHO. The downside is, no aux jack for the iPod. But, I believe the '07s have the jack.

I like to keep my car stealthy, less reason for anyone to break in. So I kept my shaker HU and just changed the 4 5X7's with infinity's, added an MTX sub in the trunk and an AUX input jack in the dash.( you can see it in the pic to the right of the HU)
Now, it sounds awesome, looks stock, I can plug in my MP3 player, still have 6 discs in at once and I love the speed vol in my vert. I can park with the top down and not worry about someone trying to pry out my HU.

The Shaker 500 is standard on a GT I believe ... the Shaker 1000 costs an extra $1295. I have a V6 Premium Coupe withe the Shaker 500.
A great system? No. Comparable an aftermarket system costing $500 - $1000? No.
But it's pretty good for a factory system. And I agree it doesn't look worth stealing and having your car broken into.
If you're one who generally is not satisfied with even a good factory system you won't be satisfied with the Shaker 500 without either replacing it or upgrading it.
Good luck with whatever your decision is.

If anybody wants to get rid of their Shaker system, I'd be interested in buying it. I suppose it would be pretty cheap since most people think it's a sorry setup. Seriously, I'm kind of obcessive compulsive about things, and like to keep the stock look. I have the base system in my 06 v6 and would be interested in buying someone's old Shaker 500 system.
