OK folks, my wife got home with the 2007 GT. It DOES have the cross brace complete with silver looking bolts. It is located about 4 inches aft of the oil drain plug. So, what does this mean? It means Ford is trying, but is still short of our goal. Sorry to those that were expecting a quick fix. Mine now has close to 900 miles.

I've never experienced this "thunking" problem so many seem to have. But my past conversations on other websites have typically revealed this problem to be the result of one or both of the following........swaybar endlinks not being tight or the plastic strut mounts breaking down. I've already installed a K-member brace (the "crossmember" you guys seem to be describing), which probably goes a long way towardshelping to keepthe frontend flex down so noises from either of these two issues is minimized. And shortly I will be installing the Steeda HD strut mounts so that any future issues with the cheap plastic mounts will be averted.

Well that's my assumption, that Ford is trying an easy way out with just the crossbar in hopes it quites it down enough for people tonot complain. Not. Crossbar is a simple 10 minute fix. Struts & upper mounts aren't quick and there costly. Anyway this, I think is the reason Ford is dragging it's feet.

Boy, somebody sure screwed up this page with lots of unnecessary code.

So Ford has made a simple cheapo 'stupid' patch job when they know full well it's not just a matter of installing the cross member but also providing higher quality strut assemblies including strut mounts of course!
So they can now be informed by their public that they have FAILED to solve the thunking issue and it's still bugging people!

I am going to my dealer sometime this week and test drive a couple coupes, a GT and a 4.0 pony package to see for myself just how much if any difference it makes.

I will report to all forthwith...........

Since GT500's and convertibles don't thunk, is it possible that putting the brace on a virgin coupe will prevent the problem?

Could it be that those with worn front ends may need more parts replaced and the addition of the brace to correct their thunking problems?

I can't tell you all the negative feedbackI got from some members of this board for having a very low mileage Pony (83 miles to date compiled over 4 months). One of the reasons was I have been waiting for a leak and thunk fix.I passed my first rain test this weekend and the cross member is getting installed on Thursday. I think I'll be ready to put some miles on her now

Sorry, but no. Mine was born with the brace and it didn't stop it. Finish date of 3/21/07
