common characterisitc?
Ford has told me the vibration in my steering wheel is a "common characteristic" and there's nothing to about it. In english, they are telling me they don't know whats wrong with it. If it is common, why did they try to fix it and why can't they fix it. Has any one else had this issue?

RE: common characterisitc?
Take it to another dealer...my local dealer told me for a year that the whinning noise in my wifes Exp was a "common characteristic"...took it to another dealer and rear-diff had been out since it was new. You're right tho, thats the common excuse when they don't know why. Tell your dealer you want a factory rep to look at your car, because mine doesn't have that characteristic.
If they won't do anything, have the balance checked on your front tires.

If you are talking about a steering wheel shimmy, you need to remove the single lock washer that is on only one lug stud of each axle. If you pull off the wheel, you will see this washer. Get it off of there. Even with the stock wheels I had a shimmy, which got much worse when I added my 20's. My tires and wheels were dynamically balanced, but it didn't help. I was told to remove these which I did, and the shimmy is totally gone. Common issue with the new `Stangs.
