Boss at LA Auto Show

RE: Boss at LA Auto Show
Can an engine guru correct me if I'm wrong. The original Boss302 engine was actually a Cleveland block (4-bolt mains). The standard 302 was a Windsor block (2-bolt mains) and a completely different block. Does anyone know if this new Boss302 that FRP is offering is a Windsor or Cleveland block type? It makes a huge difference on the heads and intake needed to complete the package.
Changing over to a carbed Cleveland or Windsor block would not be expensive or hard to do in the S197 stangs. The modular is so wide that nearly all the older V8's will fit between the shock towers. Building a 450hp carbed 351W or 347 stroker would cost less than a $5000 supercharger for the 4.6 3V. The additional costs are what matters though. You would have to change out the trans, and modify the driveshaft. You would have to have motor mounts custom fabricated and custom exhaust headers made. You would have to modify nearly every wiring harness under the hood.
Don't forget that now that you're carbed you can expect half the fuel economy you were getting with the 4.6 3V.

Open letter to Alan Mulally, CEO FORD, look at this thread, 95% positive, customers will buy this if you build it! Grabber Green and Grabber Blue, do a production run of 10,000 and they will sell out faster then you can produce them.

I guess I'll be the only one but what the hell... I really don't care for that car or at least I don't like it anymore than any other s197. I've got no idea why anyone would think of putting a Carb on a production car these days. I know they look pretty trick and some of you would rather adjust your fuel mixture with a screw driver than with a laptop, but with an engine this small it needs every bit of help that it can. 390 HP for a 5 liter NA engine isn't bad but still with maybe 330 HP or so getting to the rear wheels, it's not that exciting either. I'm getting sick of all these special edition Mustangs that are really nothing more than we could do in our own garages. Granted this one may have some special motor or tranny mounts but they really aren't that big of a deal. You can rip the Giugiaro Mustang as much as you want but at least he actually did something to customize that car. It seems like every Special Edition Mustang these days has some bolt on parts, a slightly different paintjob, a body kit but mostly a namesake whos coattails it rides on.
