you know the rest....
That took me a second, but is funny as heck in a very warped way.
Anyway, where there is a will there is a way. How bout you find out the price that your Mom wants, have the car towed to a storage yard when she is not home, and leave her an I.O.U. for the purchase price. You'll just need to be prepared to sell your mustang and get a Hyundai if your mom demands instant payment.
I was able to I.O.U. my mom for thousands in auto expenses while in college, and that was 25 years ago. I paid the debt down when I could....and paid her off in full even before graduating.....

If I were you I would give your mother a copy of what you wrote. Mothers toward their sons are very emotional and they usually don't want to let them down. If she truly understands how you feel and she still insists on selling it then she's pretty cold and I'm sure this wouldn't be the first time she's broken your dreams.
You don't want to be 40 yrs old, have children that you could involve the car with, and regret that you let the car get away. Believe me, you'll resent you mother for it long after she and the car are gone.
If one of my daughters someday wrote me a letter like that I'd by 'em a Ferrari if I could.

I haven't read all of the posts, so I risk repeating something. Your Dad (as the owner) should have an amount he would sell to you. You should be willing to work an extra job or work it off with him to pay for it. Yes, keep it in the family.
