Fuel filling on 2007's

RE: Fuel filling on 2007's
Here is alittle trick that I learned from a guy in Jersey were I get my gas (I work in Jersey, it is not "legal" to pump your own gas, however my car I'm paying for the gas, they let me pump it, thats why I go to the same gas station by my work) anyway, If you turn the pump upside down most of the time it will let you fill it up.
* Try turning the pump upside down and repost to let us know if it works.

RE: Fuel filling on 2007's
I have a 2006 and have never had a problem filling the tank. But, my fuel tank neck does move around a lot more than just a little. I can't imagine that being a very good thing. Any TSB's on that one, or does everyone's move around some?

So I know the 2005's had a fuel filling problem when it was released, and it was TSB'ed, etc, but anyone experience similar to that in their 06's or 07's.
I've only filled up my car twice. The first time, there was no problems getting the car completely full. I went to fill up today and I pumped in about 7 gallons before the pump stopped. I tried the upside down trick and still to no avail. Both fill ups happened at the same station.
Anyone else with newer Mustangs experience this problem?

I had not noticed this problem until yesterday when I got fuel at a Shell station. I got it to fill by turning the handle upside down. I had been getting gas at the Racetrac near my house and never had this problem.

One more data point on this subject...
I had read about the filling problem, but had owned my car for over a year before actually running into the problem. It occurred once when I filled up at a station in Fresno. I'm convinced that certain pumps have a problem and others don't. I've never run into the problem at my favorite local station.

Ive noticed this problem with my 07. It has done it a few times but I did not realize this was an issue until I just read your post. If it continue then I guess Ill make a trip to service. Thanks!

RE: Fuel filling on 2007's
I haven't had any problems filling my 2006 Mustang. But I would either just go slow with the fill (so you're not getting lots of splashing back on the nozzle telling the nozzle sensors that the tank is full), or maybe just try a different pump or station. Sometimes the pumps are set up to different underground tanks (like maybe 4 pumps to a tank kind of thing), and if the tank is running low, it will screw up your ability to fill. Also, if you keep trying to force a near-empty tank to pump gas into your car, you'll end up taking on all the thick, disgusting crap which has settled at the bottom of the pump, and might end up causing yourself some fuel-related problems (like with the injection) down the road.
