Default Benefits of removing cats?

I know its illegal and its for off-road use only, but just wondering if anybody had them removed or replaced with HF cats... What gains can we expect in POWER and NOISE?

Benefits = More HP, louder
Cons = Illegal

I doubt its much more of a HP increase, maybe 5 or so. Everyone Ive talked to says just get High flow cats.

I went off road completly without converters of any sort on my last mustang, and let me tell you.... IT WAS AMAZING!!! I cant really say how much HP I gained since I bought the car cat-less, but I will say that the sound was worth it all by itself. I Loved the way it sounded so much that even if someone told me I would loose HP by removing the cats I personally would STILL do it. Its up to you, but since your going to mess with it, I would go all the way and get the most potential gain possible, just my opinion though...

I have no cats on mine and the sound is def worth it. I get compliments all the time on how mean and loud my car sounds. I say take um off. I have been pulled over with out them and they never say anything out here in Cali... I think that I'm just getting though because it's def illegal

I got them because I run VP110 race gas on my car, the VP110 is leaded fuel. The sound is great too, everybody love the way my car sounds.

Hey guys thanx for all your responses, so the sound is defenetely nicer... but much much louder... and most important you didn't notice any performance gains then? or a loss maybe?
