That's absolute garbage. Dealerships will most likely want money down or credit approval before they hand you keys to test drive. They won't let anyone just come off the street and go "heh heh, I might want a GT, let me drive one", that goes for any car. [&:]

Around here you can test drive anything you want, the salesperson just takes the ride with you.

my mom knew a guy at the dealership, so i got to test drive my cars without the dealer in the car with me. also gave me a nice deal on the stang. too bad i probably won't see the same deal on an 05. i'm sure he'll let me test drive it though.

at the big dealerships, they won't let you test drive the WRX STI. Which sucks, but everyone who test drove wopuld do the same thing...drive the crap out of it

If you have built a relationship with the delearship (i.e. bought a couple of cars from them) they will let you drive it. The dealership I buy from had the vehicle and the keys ready for me when I arrived and told me to take off. That's service!
