I'm So Embarrassed!

I have had a few minor problems with my 06 GT that has been rather annoying to me.
1) GT emblem in fake gas cap had the silver peel off
2) Plastic seat lever broke
3) Fuel pump fix (TSB)
4) Rear End Chatter (TSB)
5) Missing door molding
6) ABS error

And now a serious rattle in the dash! I took it back to my dealer (who has been VERY cooperative) and complained loudly. They just called an hour ago and told me they fished an acorn out of the defroster vent. [&o]

Yes, my face is very red!

I guess I was just trying to say that I was a little quick on the draw to blame my Ford. The 100 or so squirrels in my yard just happend to find a very cool place to hide an acorn.
:D

Late last summer, I had a "antifreeze" smell coming through the vents. This went on for a few days. Finally, I poked around under the hood.

Turns out, the smell was coming from a dead rat that was lying on the bottom of the radiator fan shroud. Funny, because the odor inside the car smelled the same as antifreeze.

3) Fuel pump fix (TSB)
4) Rear End Chatter (TSB)

Can someone explain these two TSB's?

I am going to take my car in for the fuel pump fix on friday, but what is the rear end chatter???

Well at least the problem can be solved with a $129 chain saw and some 40:1 gasoline. "Timber"

The fuel pump TSB is a revised pump that is not supposed to cavitate the fuel (localized boiling of a liquid due to the creation of a low pressure area). Bottom line it is just a redesigned pump. Its solid as a rock, I haven't seen one fail to this day. The chatter TSB is actually the replacement of the clutch disks in your differential that give you trak lock (two wheels spinning instead of one). The new disks are made of a paper friction rather than carbon fiber (original). The noisy disks are actually stronger and considered a higher performance component, but the papers will be much more quiet and have been used for years in the past with no issues with early failure. Noise or performance choice really. Anyone that has put similar clutches in an older mustang (like my 5.0 for example) knows that the better they grip - the louder they become. The chatter you hear is them grabbing.

Is this problem specific to GT's only or do the 6's use the same rearend?
