My wife and I had debated about getting a G35 when I bought her the GT. Knowing what I know now, should have gotten the G35. We have had alot of issues with the stang and it is only 6 months old. Trading in this week for an M3 for her.

I would have to agree with everyone else, leave it alone. I have seen a modded G35 in my area take GT's and SS camaros. They can be deadly.

Yea 280 HP, no torque, and they weigh a ton.

Not a good recipe for speed. One of my friends is getting an '05 Coupe next year, the interior is really nice soo.
no torque?

280hp/260trq

as far as weight goes, they are lighter then or in some cases about as heavy as our cars...

not to mention theyre more-so luxury cars.

also, they are much more well suited on a road course then the drag strip.

These 2 cars are in totally different classes, thus have different highs and lows.

The G35 is obviously in a higher Luxury Sport class. It competes with the BMW 3-series (330 to be exact) and the Lexus IS (IS350 to be exact)

The Mustang [GT's] are in a Sporty/Muscle car class.

The only thing the G35 6 Speed (300hp, 260 TQ) and Mustang GT have in common is Speed/Performance.

The Mustang GT's have a slight advantage in the 0-60 & 1/4 mile stats,

While the G35 6 Speed has a definate advantage in Handling.

Thefore, like Kaldar142 stated, the G35's are suited better on the track than the Strip... Mustangs are suited better on the Strip than on the Track.

Well getting back to the point, dont even bother racing your Mustang V6 against the G35 6MT unless you wanna get embarrased.

I agree about what yall said.

From my stand point, 60 FT. LBS of torque is a lot. I forgot we were comparing them to a v6.

I am just getting tired about my friend talking about how close a imported V6 is to an American V8.[:@]

How well do these things mod?

the VQ35DE is an amazing engine, and its proven itself quite a bit.

the G35 is the same exact car as the 350Z, just a bit heavier (more luxury orientated) and differentbody.

Not as fast, but not necessarily a bad recipe for speed and fun

Weight (lbs):
Curb weight: 3,468 (automatic)

0-60: 6.2 sec.
0-100: 16.0 sec.
1/4-mile: 14.6 sec.
60-0: 110 ft.
Top Speed: 145 mph

2005 Mustang GT

Curb Weight: 3500 lbs

0-60 mph: 5.2 sec
0-100 mph: 13.2 sec
Top Speed: 145 mph

what specs are you getting? lol

0-60 is 5.9

and the sport coupe is 0-60 5.2

top speed of 155+ (electroniclly limited)

.92g skidpad

0-100 is 15.1

and its quarter mile is lower, 14.2 atleast for the newer models.

What Specs are you looking at for the stang lol.

0-60: 4.9
Drag Limited to 145 MPH stock, but a CAI + Tune fixs that.
1/4 best I seen is 13.2

These are the comparision specs for both auto 05's from www.roadtests.com. My point is that while both are different kind of cars the G35 weighs about the same as the GT and will eat a Mustang V6.

No offense to anyone with a V6 stang here (not my intention, just pointing out something). But in truth, it is far from a performance package or a high output V6. It is just a stripped down bread and butter version of the mustang for the masses. Not meant to be a road burner.

Considering that the G35 costs more than the GT let alone the V6, I dont even see the reasoning for the comparison.

Off topic slightly, I have driven a couple Z's and a G35 all with manual transmissions. All I will say is YUCK.

They have all the torque of a souped up leaf blower, sound exactly like a leaf blower, and have all the appeal a chick car should have to a guy, nilch! But heck, they are reliable and are more fun than a civic or camry.

IDK, when porsche or BMW builds a 300+hp 6 cyl car, they are screamers that really have gobbs of great sound and shrill. And the torque they lack is made up with fun to driveness. Whenever I drive a jap car with a 300hp 6, it feels like something they took out of an suv and shoved in a car.

JMHO of course.
