OK to use Techron additive?
Is is safe to use the Cheveron Techron fuel system cleaner in my 06 GT? I've got 23,000 miles on her now and I want to try to keep the intake valves & ports clean. I know this stuff works well in other cars, what about ours? I was thinking every 3000 to 5000 miles: Dump a bottle of Techron in, fill up, drive till almost empty, finally do usual oil change.
How about it?

There will be absolutly NO benefit from adding that stuff to your gas. On older cars that might actually have sedament its helpful but not a new(er) vehicle. Id stay away from and just run good gas. Premium fuel has a lot of those detergents right in it, so theres no point in runnin an additive at all.

It is not going to harm the car at all. If you run cheap gas then it is a great idea however as long as you run a Top Tier Fuel you realy do not need to use it. The Techron and Redline Fuel Cleaners are the only two i would ever use though.

Absoultly DO NOT add anything to your gas tank but gas! Forget what others above tell you, the junk your talking about putting in your tank will give you more grief than you could believe even while its happining. If you have an old car toss it in there.

Theres actually a TSB from Ford that tells us to use the Chevron brand cleaner on vehicles that have may sulfur build up from fuel on the sender. But this is usually caused from bad fuel.
