RE: WTF IS MY CAR DOING??? AHHHHH!!!!!!!
yep, sounds like a problem best solved by adding the control rods.
If you do go to the dealer I wonder what their response will be. If you say it does it when you do burnouts they'll have a good laugh. They aren't going to write that down on the service invoice! They will say that they can't replicate the problem and do nothing!
It's best to say that occasionally, under hard acceleration, you experience some excessive vibrations. Then they might at least get your Mustang up on a lift for an inspection of the bushings, control arms, etc.
Also regrading the auto vs stick- I thought there was a limit to the kind of horsepower that the new 5spd auto can handle.

I have a '06 GT with 18" rims. Brand new the tires were so sticky a weak attempt at a burn out resulted in "wheel hop" you really need to give it a good rev and launch it hard for a good tire shredding experience similar to the Ford commercial.
Or go spend the bucks on the rear suspension. As you state you don't do it much, so don't worry about it. As you pile on the miles and the tires wear down you'll spin the tires more!

100% sure this is wheel hop.
Wheel hop happens when you try and spin the tires but you don't give it enough juice to really roast them. Then they spin, catch, spin, catch, causing the suspension to go up and down thus causing wheel hop, vibrating the car up and down very hard. NOT GOOD at all for the car, if you feel it let off the accelerator immediately!
Either do a burnout the right way or don't do it at all. If something is worth doing, then it's worth doing right :-)
TCS off. Rev to 6k. Dump (sidestep) the clutch and/or let it out quickly.

Wheel hop...
I agree with HAWG above. You go looking for any NHRA car that needs consistency (SuperComp, SuperGas, etc) and you will almost always see autos. That goes with competitive bracket racers as well.
As for "Pro" classes, ProStock has a clutched planetary trans, you do not use the clutch after launching. As for fuel and alcohol dragsters/F-cars, they use a "slipper" clutch (kinda like a go cart), then either a 2 or 3-speed planetary trans (Lenco, Liberty, etc) that is not clutched.
A stick is cool on the street, but NOT the best thing for the strip. Also, torque converters can spin up to 5000-6000 in race applications. Put that to a trans brake and BAM! (taking from Emereil)
