Pros and Cons of owning a S197?

RE: Pros and Cons of owning a S197?
wow good and tough question, Well one good and bad thing is that it is easy to mod, so you just keep going and you want to do more. Each mod is an improvement but costs money. The good, attention grabber, fun to drive, easy to mod, tons of aftermarket parts, lead foot syndrome, not your average looking car, the bad, brake lines freezing, the engine tick that comes and goes, unperdictable ford dealers on mods, cop magnic, a little thing but no trunk release in the cab. thats all that i can think of right now

RE: Pros and Cons of owning a S197?
This is my second Mustang. My first was a 1989 Lx 2.3 Hatchback. Its taken 16 years, but now I finally have my "All grown up" mustang.
Pros:
1) I've always wanted one.
2) IMO, the retro body style, 3v engine, easy to mod setup makes it one of the baddest affordable muscle cars on the market today.
3) Looks mean
4) Sounds mean
5) Is mean
Cons:
1) Somewhat impractical. (So my wife says)
2) In this world of absurd gas prices, she's not the best.
3) I've had some small, pain in the a$$, problems. i.e. Rear end whine, shaker500 problems, filling up with gas problems, etc, and an overall feeling that american carbuilders overall put out an "average" product.
Don't take my cons out of context. I truley love my '06 and am 100% delighted to be the owner of one of these cars. Just wait until I get her like I want her!!

RE: Pros and Cons of owning a S197?
Pros:
Totally exhilirating to drive
Very nice lines / looks beautiful
Sounds great
Handles better than my old LX Mustang
Cons:
Towed three times
Parking brake issue twice
Poor service with regard to ordering parts
Craptacular interior (cheesey plastic) - I could go for this if I was buying an economy car but come on it all looks and feels so cheap
The skipper 500 radio (replaced twice now)
I think she spends more time at the shop than in my garage
All in all, a great pleasure to drive, but absolutely disappointing with regard to reliability. Ford service is somewhere just below abysmal. My dealer thought nothing of telling me that my latest part "may" arrive in the January/February timeframe. It is incredibly frustrating to have a new car that you cannot rely on.
