Every new car I get I'm so excited about it that I always read the manual. Especially the first night after bringing it home when I'm done playing with it for the day I'll put it away and grab the manual.

I still reference the manuals for my cars now and then, but mostly I get info I need from the shop manuals.

we would not be able to write the pointless posts you complain about. It is nice to just post a thread and discuss it with others that choose to on this website. Lighten up a bit! JMO

Ive been seeing all of these rediculous newb posts about breaking in the motor, first oil change and what not. Everytime I see one of these posts I think to myself, heres another *&@^#%(* that didnt read his owners manual. If they just would've actually pulled it out and READ it, they wouldnt be putting up these stupid posts.
end rant.

I read manual carefully;but, sometimes I don't know what to do. For example: Manual recommends oil change every 5000 miles or 6 months; but,I drive only 1400 miles in 6 months. What should I do? Change oil anyway or wait until 3000 miles or 9 months.

I read my manual and it does say to change the oil every 5k miles, but my ford dealer said every 3k miles. I have to agree with the ford dealer because I have always heard thier is nothing better you can o then changing the oil every 3k miles. I think a lot of people ask questions like when sould I change my oil because they want to know what the best way to take care of thier car is.
