Removing fake gas cap
hey all,
well I am getting a CDC rear blackout panel and was wondering...how do i pop this thing off? When i pull the black piece off behind it, in the trunk, it seems to just hang there after. What exactly do i need to do?? and i did a search on this and couldn't find much about the plastic piece on the other side of the trunk and what to do with that...
thanks for any help

RE: Removing fake gas cap
goo gone or detachol works great! Use a hair dryer first to get the cap off as you lift the part off the hairdryer will loosen the tape. Be careful not to scratch the paint. Worked for me!

RE: Removing fake gas cap
I can only think of a few parts that come stock on the mustang that use tape to hold them in place but I know alot of the after market parts you find use it to hold things in place the stuff is great!!
Even though the spoiler is bolted it also has double sided tape that holds it on and the side skirts there
is one bolt in the front and one in the back and just tape inbetween that holds it on
the fake gas cap and I thought there was one more but it escapes me ATM.
20 pound test works the best any less and it breaks alot heat will help as was said and I can't remember what holds the side badges on there might be a hole there and some tape.

You meant the fender right? (lol) Yeah two slightly oval shaped holes UGH!!! Have to weld them up unless you are swapping out to a new emblem.

RE: Removing fake gas cap
I JUST LIGHTLY HEATED IT UP WITH A HEAT GUN ON LOW AND NOT TOO CLOSE AND USED A VERY THIN PLASTIC SCRAPER AND IT CAME OFF IN LIKE 2-3 MINUTES NO PROBLEM NO SCRATCHES OR NOTHING!
