You will hear alot of back and forth on the Strut tower Brace but I have to say I have had mine on and off and I can't say it was a huge differnce but I did feel it, just remember if you have a engine cover the brace will scratch it all up so you will have to pick one or the other.

ORIGINAL: Mike521

I saw a pic on another post of someone's engine compartment, they'd cleaned up the interior with nice hoses etc.

I noticed this big bar going from the left strut (?) to the right one, across the top of the engine. Looked cool but I'm sure it serves another purpose

can anyone tell me what it is and what it does? If it's useful, how expensive is it, and can a non-mechanic like me install it?
A STB serves two purposes.
1. A great show piece
2. Improved handling. A very noticable difference in front end handling / roll.

I have the GMS on mine. It was advertised as allowing clearance for the plenum. It did but not without a lot of bending and reshaping. I do not recommend the GMS STB at all.
I have purchased a new STB that is garanteed to clear the plenum from these folks. It should be here next week.

Listen, a strut tower brace will slightly improve the handling of the car. If you better handling, I would first start by changing the suspension starting with springs and shocks. I agree the brace looks good but don't soley depend on it.

Martin123 is absolutly correct there are alot of other things you can add that will affect the handling more then the Strut Brace, the 05-07 is built nice and stiff and you could tell the difference way more on alot of imports were the body bends like trees in the wind everytime you take a corner, but that was not the question and changing the suspension starting with springs and shocks will cost you and is not something a non-mechanic like yourself is going to do him/her self but you will beable to really feel the change if you did it is all about how much $ you want to put into it.
